To be successful in this role you must possess

A tertiary qualification in a related field, current driver's licence and experience in best practice asset management. You will have an expert knowledge in the use of asset management systems and demonstrated strategic, conceptual, analytical, teamwork and problem solving skills.

  • Hold a current drivers licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle.

  • On occasions, be required to travel by vessel to, and camp on, Phillip Island to fulfill the duties of the position.
  • Will hold, or be able to obtain, certificates of competency in the safe use of chemicals, chainsaw use, operation of a four-wheel-drive vehicle, first aid and other qualifications that are required to fulfill the requirements of the position.

In this role, you will be responsible for working with consumers in community based accommodation, developing and implementing psychosocial rehabilitation programs and opportunities, in conjunction with them, and aligning with their individual recovery plans.

In terms of direct duties delivered to consumers on a case by case basis, these may include:

  • Developing skills for managing home and finances;
  • Exploring mainstream community opportunities including sport, leisure, fitness, recreation, education and employment;
  • Developing skills that encourage people to participate in community activities;
  • Mentoring and peer support;
  • Developing skills for the self management of mental and general health;
  • Advocacy; and
  • Joint care planning with the mental health team, private psychiatrist, psychologist or GP.

Additional responsibilities will include delivering a client focused day to day living (D2DL) program to a diverse member group, with varying needs and in different stages of their own personal recovery journey.
The successful applicant will have tertiary qualifications in Human Services or Behavioural Sciences, and a strong commitment to consumer driven recovery and psychosocial rehabilitation. A current driver's licence is mandatory.

As you will be frequently engaging with consumers, family members, colleagues and service providers, you will need to be a caring and understanding individual, with strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work in challenging situations. You will have experience in motivating consumers and assisting people to achieve their personal goals. An enthusiasm for working with people with a mental illness, and a genuine desire to help others and improve the community is essential!

Reporting to the Senior Manager, G&CD, (Grants Management & Development), this role specifically contributes to the leadership and management of the Grants Managers within Lotterywest’s grant making approach. The key task is managing quality and effective statutory and complex direct grant making and relationships and ensuring that recommendations for payment of approved grants are in accordance with funding agreements, deeds, legislation and any other relevant conditions to be actioned.

Selection Criteria

The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Providing effective leadership, coaching, development and guidance to Grants Managers including the coordination of operational activities
  • Ensuring quality grant making and customer services, including managing statutory and direct grants in accordance with the Lotterywest grant making framework, values and principles and to ensure end to end accountability requirements are met.
  • Ensuring the quality of grant reports and other outputs such as briefing notes and correspondence
  • Optimising community development outcomes by building strong community and stakeholder relationships and maintaining a well developed knowledge of current sector and regional trends
  • Providing input to the planning and ongoing maintenance of the operational budget and direct grants budget
  • Supporting the effective application of systems, tools and processes including the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Providing input to internal and external policy, strategies and projects and Ministerials as required including leading, resourcing and collaborating on projects and the development of agreed strategies
