The Department of Education’s Workforce Management Branch is offering an opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to join their team in the position of Senior Human Resource Consultant.
The Senior Human Resource Consultant will provide expert advice and support to schools, central and regional offices on human resource legislation, policies, good practice and workforce profiling. The successful applicant will evaluate emerging human resource issues and trends to identify opportunities and Departmental relevance. The successful applicant will research develop and implement strategic human resource solutions, as well as evaluate emerging human resource issues and trends to identify opportunities and Departmental relevance.
The Workforce Management Branch is part of the Workforce Policy and Coordination Directorate. It is responsible for the provision of advice and support on workforce management issues to ensure an equitable workplace through the consistent application of human resource legislation, policies, procedures and practices.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for 6 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Well developed knowledge of and experience with the legislative framework and policies that impact on human resource management relevant to the public sector.
- In-depth knowledge, skills and practice in human resource management including research, planning and presentation skills and capacity to develop and deliver human resource training.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills that demonstrate the ability to provide an effective consultancy service and influence results.
- Highly developed written communication skills in a human resource context.
- Well developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills strategically applied to human resource legislation, policies and practice.

- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Complete within six months of appointment:
- The Department’s online training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making.
