Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ) is a large and dynamic organisation with more than 50 locations throughout South East Queensland supporting 100,000 Queenslanders every year.

Wesley Mission Queensland’s Central Kitchen, located at Moorooka is looking to employ a production Kitchen Hand. The position is for permanent part time hours. The kitchen produces a range of foods for aged and health care clients.

Ideally candidates will possess a Certificate III in Hospitality or have proven experience working in a high volume kitchen. Food safety is paramount in our production process and all new employees will be required to undergo food safety training as part of the employment process.

The kitchen operates Monday to Friday from 6am to 4.30pm. Hours of work will be rostered within these hours. The kitchen is within easy walking distance of public transport (bus and rail).

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene of all equipment used in the Central Kitchen as well as all areas of the Central Kitchen.
  • Ensuring the efficient use of all equipment used in the Central Kitchen.
  • The ability to accurately and efficiently follow systems to produce food products to a recipe including correct weight and trays size against production requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to work irregular hours.
  • Ability to identify problems and act quickly to inform Chefs or Production Supervisor to enable quick solution.
  • Participate in Workplace Health and Safety, infection control and ongoing training.
  • To be an active participant in a continuous quality improvement environment.
