Overview:

There has been a rapid growth in student numbers since 2007 and we now teach over 2000 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in several disciplines, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic and Environmental Engineering as well as in Industrial Design.

Environmental Engineering is one of the very first Engineering programs offered at Griffith since the early 1990s. Environmental Engineering at Griffith University has a strong multi- and inter-disciplinary focus - an academic discipline in the Griffith School of Engineering, one of four Schools in the Griffith Sciences group.

This is a continuing, full time position based at the Nathan campus.

The role:

The position is required to teach and conduct research in the area of Environmental Engineering; to contribute to the development, improvement, and growth of engineering at the Nathan campus. This position is expected to have an academic background in Environmental or Civil Engineering with technical expertise in geo-environment, site remediation and rehabilitation or in other relevant areas in Environmental Engineering. This position is expected to contribute mainly to delivery and development of courses in Environmental Engineering.

The person:

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Envirnomental Engineering, or a closely related field, and have demonstrated teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will have strong interpersonal skills, a passion for teaching and a commitment to growing and enhancing the Environmental Engineering discipline. An extensive, advanced and current knowledge of the field of Environmental Engineering, as is familiarity with higher education, best teaching and administrative practices. Salary range:

The Opportunity

Requirements

To be successful you should have significant experience in the operations of a LNG, gas processing, complex hydrocarbon facility, or similar experience gained on a ‘Major Hazardous Facility’.

Qualifications such as Certificate III or IV in ESI Generation, Boiler and Open Turbine Operators’ Certificates, electrical or mechanical trade background and confined space and working at heights accreditation would be highly regarded. Ideally, you’ll also have experience in at least one of the following environments: Complex Processing, Major Hazard Facilities, Shiploading, Central Control Room or Cryogenics.

This role is based on Curtis Island, relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

How the Program works

The Student Program QLD is completed by students in their final year of a Property/Valuations, Commerce/Business, Finance, Law or Engineering degree. Students rotate through 5 divisions of the business working 8 weeks in each:

The Program runs between February and October/early November each year and is completed during your final year of tertiary study. On a day-to-day basis you may be involved in:

You would be expected to complete all relevant accounting, taxation and administration matters on an allocation of Self Managed Superannuation Fund clients to a high quality, as well as offering outstanding customer service by establishing and maintaining effective client relations for all assigned funds.

As part of the team, you would be responsible for mentoring less-experienced Accountants, as well as contribute to the continual process improvement philosophy of the team’s already excellent procedures and processes.

In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Processing of transactions from source documentation or data feeds into Desktop Super
  • Preparation of the electronic work file and associated workpapers for audit
  • Preparation of BAS and IAS
  • Reconciliation of PAYG and GST
  • Preparation of Financial Statements and Statutory Annual Return, along with associated minutes and other documentation
  • Monitoring of your own work-in-progress and performance to budget
  • Developing and imparting technical knowledge through training to the other team members
  • Maintaining a high level of understanding of your clients’ affairs as well as current issues affecting them
  • Liaising with Directors and other unit leaders, where appropriate, in relation to client’s affairs
  • Attending to general administration matters

Key Selection Criteria includes:
  • Proven Australian experience in a similar role
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business or Commerce with an Accounting major
  • Commencement or looking to commence CA/CPA qualification
  • Sound knowledge of taxation and superannuation legislation and concepts
  • Ability to work autonomously, as part of a team and proactive/hands-on in your approach
  • Exposure to dealing with Financial Planners
  • The previous use of Desktop Superannuation &/or other APS software applications would be an advantage

The basic aim of this project is to transition users from Windows XP to Windows 7, as well as a rationalisation in the applications used by our client.

Necessary Skill Set:
  • Technically smart with applications packaging, validating source and troubleshooting application installation.
  • Knowledge of Database concepts (database connectivity with applications, client server architecture etc.), SQL query, data warehousing etc.
  • Knowledge of SCCM (System Centre Configuration Manager) and reporting – running reports with SQL queries in background and deep knowledge of MS Excel and macros.
  • Knowledge of application source gathering (analysing if the source is complete, how to validate licences, etc.)
  • Knowledge of installing sequenced / packaged applications into an UAT (User Acceptance Testing) environment, and conduct pre UAT activities.
  • You will be responsible for completing some necessary inductions, as well as have the ability to pass a pre-employment medical
