Information about the Section/Branch
The Communication and Media Branch is the central point for all communication issues and activities providing public relations, marketing, media management and internal and external communication support and services for the Ministers and the Department. The branch also has a watching brief over the management of, and compliance with, communications standards within FaHCSIA, including those set by the Australian Government.
The Online Communications Section maintains and supports the Department’s websites and intranet, and manages the presentation of information specific to the Minister and Parliamentary Secretary via the Department and Ministers' websites. It is responsible for publishing key corporate documents and whole-of FaHCSIA information to the sites.
Description of the role
This position is part of a small team responsible for the development, testing and delivery of FaHCSIA's external and internal websites in accordance with Australian Government and Departmental guidelines and standards.
The successful applicant will be required to:
- develop fully accessible websites using Content Management Systems such as Wordpress and Drupal
- provide expert advice and assistance in regards to PHP, XML, CSS and HTML
- perform web server administration.
Desirable qualifications / Additional Comments about the Position
Completed, or in the process of completing a tertiary degree in Computer Science or Design related field and/or a combination of relevant qualifications and experience.

Criterion 1Essential: Expert knowledge and experience in using web-related tools and software including:Criterion 2Essential: Expert knowledge and understanding of web languages and standards including:

- Wordpress customisation techniques relating to themes, plug-ins, widgets, APIs and social media integration
- Adobe Photoshop
Criterion 3Essential: Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to provide solutions to complex problems when required.

Criterion 4Essential: Ability to work within a team environment, working under minimal supervision and providing support where required.
Criterion 5Desirable: Knowledge of LAMP hosting environments, Apache and Linux. Relevant tertiary qualifications.
