Child Safety Officers (CSOs) are responsible for delivering statutory child protection services such as investigating and assessing allegations of suspected child abuse and neglect, and intervening to ensure the safety of children in accordance with legislation and practice guidelines. Child Safety Officers work in teams based in service centres covering specific geographical areas. Child safety services are delivered within an environment of competing priorities and varied resources, requiring responses such as those that are planned and long term, to those that are immediate and crisis driven.

You are expected to attach the following to your application:
- completed application form including your location preferences
- resume or curriculum vitae outlining your employment history, relevant skills and experience, qualifications and the names of two referees
- written response to three (3) questions (fully detailed in the CSO Applicant Guide)
- a certified copy of your degree and academic record as well as other relevant documentation (e.g. assessment of overseas qualifications)
- a certified copy of your drivers licence
- a certified copy of your citizenship/residency (if applicable)
- a photocopy of your current blue card (if applicable).
Note: A certified document is one which is stamped and signed by a Justice of the Peace, Commission of Declarations, Police Sergeant or Solicitor who has sighted the original document.
Mandatory Requirements:
Possession of a degree or equivalent in accordance with the 'Mandatory Qualification Requirements' fact sheet available at

It is also a mandatory requirement for Child Safety Officer applicants to undergo criminal history screening under the blue card system administered by the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian.
