About the Grants & Community Development Business Unit
Grants and Community Development is responsible for providing effective, efficient and equitable grant making that responds flexibly to community needs. We contribute to the development of best practice grant making across the government, corporate, not-for-profit and philanthropic sectors. In addition, G&CD partners with not-for-profit organisations, government, corporate and philanthropic bodies to actively lead, influence and encourage community and sector development to address community challenges and aspirations.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, G&CD, (Grants Management & Development), this role specifically contributes to the leadership and management of the Grants Managers within Lotterywest’s grant making approach. The key task is managing quality and effective statutory and complex direct grant making and relationships and ensuring that recommendations for payment of approved grants are in accordance with funding agreements, deeds, legislation and any other relevant conditions to be actioned.
Selection Criteria
The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Providing effective leadership, coaching, development and guidance to Grants Managers including the coordination of operational activities
- Ensuring quality grant making and customer services, including managing statutory and direct grants in accordance with the Lotterywest grant making framework, values and principles and to ensure end to end accountability requirements are met.
- Ensuring the quality of grant reports and other outputs such as briefing notes and correspondence
- Optimising community development outcomes by building strong community and stakeholder relationships and maintaining a well developed knowledge of current sector and regional trends
- Providing input to the planning and ongoing maintenance of the operational budget and direct grants budget
- Supporting the effective application of systems, tools and processes including the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement
- Providing input to internal and external policy, strategies and projects and Ministerials as required including leading, resourcing and collaborating on projects and the development of agreed strategies
