Overview:

Griffith University is a dynamic, innovative and well-respected university. The Griffith School of Engineering has been providing tertiary qualifications to the Engineering profession for over two decades, and is known for its innovative and student focussed teaching approaches and its strong industry relationships. There has been a rapid growth in student numbers since 2007 and we now teach over 2000 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in several disciplines, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic and Environmental Engineering as well as in Industrial Design.

Environmental Engineering is one of the very first Engineering programs offered at Griffith since the early 1990s. Environmental Engineering at Griffith University has a strong multi- and inter-disciplinary focus - an academic discipline in the Griffith School of Engineering, one of four Schools in the Griffith Sciences group.

This is a continuing, full time position based at the Nathan campus.

The role:

The position is required to teach and conduct research in the area of Environmental Engineering; to contribute to the development, improvement, and growth of engineering at the Nathan campus. This position is expected to have an academic background in Environmental or Civil Engineering with technical expertise in geo-environment, site remediation and rehabilitation or in other relevant areas in Environmental Engineering. This position is expected to contribute mainly to delivery and development of courses in Environmental Engineering.

The person:

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Envirnomental Engineering, or a closely related field, and have demonstrated teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will have strong interpersonal skills, a passion for teaching and a commitment to growing and enhancing the Environmental Engineering discipline. An extensive, advanced and current knowledge of the field of Environmental Engineering, as is familiarity with higher education, best teaching and administrative practices. Salary range:

Lecturer, Level B: $89,357 - $106,114 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $104,548 - $124,154 per annum.

The Opportunity
  • Undertake general administrative tasks under the direction of the Medical Director, Senior Medical Officers and other senior staff members in PICU (both medical and nursing) including but not limited to preparation of correspondence, prioritisation of tasks and emails for PICU Director, invoices, organising interviews, preparation of forms, maintenance of databases etc.
  • Assist with intake of new Registrars
  • Arrange meetings and prepare and distribute agendas and minutes
  • Undertake tasks in association with the other Directorate Administration Officers within PICU – i.e. rostering tasks such as distribution of rosters, reconciliation of sign on sheets and leave forms, providing payroll reports etc.
  • Provide relief (sick leave / training backfill) for the PICU Ward AO role as required.

The Successful Candidate
  • Proven ability to perform the key responsibilities associated with each of the specific roles outlined in the table above.
  • You will have demonstrated high standard of clerical, administrative and secretarial support to senior managerial positions.

How the Program works

The Student Program QLD is completed by students in their final year of a Property/Valuations, Commerce/Business, Finance, Law or Engineering degree. Students rotate through 5 divisions of the business working 8 weeks in each:

  • Industrial
  • Asset Management Services i.e. Property Management and Facilities Management
  • Commercial Sales
  • Valuations
  • Office Leasing

Working days are 2-3 days per week and can be flexible to accommodate your study requirements. Mentoring and supervision is provided as well as regular two-way feedback opportunities. A daily rate is paid, plus superannuation.

Location

These positions are based in our Brisbane head office in Creek Street.

What you can expect from the Program

The Program runs between February and October/early November each year and is completed during your final year of tertiary study. On a day-to-day basis you may be involved in:

  • Onsite inspections and meetings with clients
  • Developing contact lists
  • Marketing properties
  • Data collection
  • Budget preparation in Property Management
  • Sales research
  • Reading tenant leases
  • Title searches in Valuations
  • Outgoings reconciliations
  • Production of floor plans
  • Participating in team meetings
  • Maintaining the client/property database
  • Preparing property newsletters
  • Attending/supporting auctions
  • Writing ads
  • Measuring from plans and contributing to valuation reports. 


At the conclusion of the program in late October/early November, the performance of each student is reviewed and assessed and students may be offered a permanent position with the Company.

The Opportunity

In this hands-on role, you must ensure the accuracy and compliance of SMSF Financials with Accounting Standards, Taxation legislation and Superannuation Industry Supervisory Legislation. You would be expected to complete all relevant accounting, taxation and administration matters on an allocation of Self Managed Superannuation Fund clients to a high quality, as well as offering outstanding customer service by establishing and maintaining effective client relations for all assigned funds.

As part of the team, you would be responsible for mentoring less-experienced Accountants, as well as contribute to the continual process improvement philosophy of the team’s already excellent procedures and processes.

As the team grows, we would be looking for you to stand out as a future leader within the team and accept the opportunity and responsibility for projects as they arise.

In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Processing of transactions from source documentation or data feeds into Desktop Super
  • Preparation of the electronic work file and associated workpapers for audit
  • Preparation of BAS and IAS
  • Reconciliation of PAYG and GST
  • Preparation of Financial Statements and Statutory Annual Return, along with associated minutes and other documentation
  • Monitoring of your own work-in-progress and performance to budget
  • Developing and imparting technical knowledge through training to the other team members
  • Maintaining a high level of understanding of your clients’ affairs as well as current issues affecting them
  • Liaising with Directors and other unit leaders, where appropriate, in relation to client’s affairs
  • Attending to general administration matters

  • Proven Australian experience in a similar role
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business or Commerce with an Accounting major
