Our client is a growing mid sized firm with offices in Sydney and Brisbane.

Our client has a need for a lawyer with strong litigation skills to join their busy litigation team in Sydney.

You will work with an experienced partner and work on a variety of litigation matters, including property and strata disputes, insolvency, debt recovery, insurance and general commercial litigation.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Regularly attending court and tribunals.
  • Drafting statements of claims, affidavits and other documents for litigation.
  • Autonomously managing large file load of cases.
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • 1-6 PQE.
  • Experience/training gained at a mid-tier or highly regarded boutique firm.
  • Excellent drafting skills.
  • Strong advocacy skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a high pressure environment.
This role will best suit a talented litigation lawyer with great drafting and advocacy skills that is looking to progress their career in a busy litigation team.

Hours of work
The hours of work are 9.00am - 5.00pm (with an hour break for lunch), Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • typing and collation of various legal documents;
  • typing of correspondence, memos and email communications;
  • entry of timesheet data and preparation of client accounts (billing);
  • file and diary management;
  • file maintenance and archiving; and
  • other administrative tasks as required.

Ideally you will possess a proactive approach demonstrating the following skills and experience:

  • first class organisational and communication skills;
  • at least 2 years experience as a commercial legal secretary;
  • advanced skills in Microsoft applications (particularly word);
  • accurate typing, spelling, grammar and proof reading skills;
  • experience in online billing/ timesheet reporting;
  • a committed, proactive and service orientated approach to work; and
  • knowledge of Keystone accounting software (not essential).
