Attributes, skills and experience as a minimum will include but not limited to:
  • Business or Commerce degree with a solid track record of accounts payable & receivable and financial reporting experience
  • Pronto, HFM, SAP or similar ERP experience Intermediate - advanced Excel skills
  • General ledgers bookkeeping experience with proven accuracy
  • Payroll experience is preferable but not essential
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships and to work in a small dynamic team environment
  • Well developed time management skills, ability to prioritize, meet multiple deadlines and be goal orientated
  • Analytical mind supported by technical ability and a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and flexibility to enable the undertaking of a wide range of tasks

In this hands-on role, you must ensure the accuracy and compliance of SMSF Financials with Accounting Standards, Taxation legislation and Superannuation Industry Supervisory Legislation. You would be expected to complete all relevant accounting, taxation and administration matters on an allocation of Self Managed Superannuation Fund clients to a high quality, as well as offering outstanding customer service by establishing and maintaining effective client relations for all assigned funds.

As part of the team, you would be responsible for mentoring less-experienced Accountants, as well as contribute to the continual process improvement philosophy of the team’s already excellent procedures and processes.

As the team grows, we would be looking for you to stand out as a future leader within the team and accept the opportunity and responsibility for projects as they arise.

In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Processing of transactions from source documentation or data feeds into Desktop Super
  • Preparation of the electronic work file and associated workpapers for audit
  • Preparation of BAS and IAS
  • Reconciliation of PAYG and GST
  • Preparation of Financial Statements and Statutory Annual Return, along with associated minutes and other documentation
  • Monitoring of your own work-in-progress and performance to budget
  • Developing and imparting technical knowledge through training to the other team members
  • Maintaining a high level of understanding of your clients’ affairs as well as current issues affecting them
  • Liaising with Directors and other unit leaders, where appropriate, in relation to client’s affairs
  • Attending to general administration matters

Key Selection Criteria includes:
  • Proven Australian experience in a similar role
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business or Commerce with an Accounting major
  • Commencement or looking to commence CA/CPA qualification

  • Ability to work autonomously, as part of a team and proactive/hands-on in your approach
  • Exposure to dealing with Financial Planners

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform and prepare end of month reconciliations in line with the finance timetable.
  • Daily bank reconciliations for all WMB accounts to include follow up of outstanding cheques, deposits and cancelling cheques.
  • Maintain and reconcile debtor accounts for NILS clients and distribute monthly statements.
