Belmont City College, an Independent Public School, is seeking a committed Youth Worker to join our Student Services Team. This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a committed team who share the same moral purpose of wanting to make a significant difference to the lives of our students. There is a possibility that this position will become permanent, depending on future student enrolments.
As the Youth Support Worker you would be responsible for coordinating the college’s Youth Support Program. This includes developing systems that provide a responsive and effective youth support service for students, staff and family members. The officer establishes and maintains professional links between the college and various public and private sector organisations.
Modern facilities, set in the heart of the City of Belmont, provide the backdrop for many innovative programs conducted at Belmont City College. Our focus is on providing a safe and caring environment that encourages students to become self-motivated, independent learners. A strong pastoral care program supports the social and emotional needs of the students at the College, whilst the diverse range of academic and life skills programs aim to cater for the academic needs of all students who study at the College.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Well developed oral, written and interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships, including collaboration and liaison skills.
- Experience in working autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Practical experience in conceptual and analytical ability, including the ability to identify problems and provide innovative thinking in problem solving.
- Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Extensive experience in working with individual or small groups of adolescents who are experiencing difficulties, particularly in the local environment.
- Practical working knowledge of the youth sector, particularly local organisations.
- Experience in research and the development of strategies to address issues.
