Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is an integral part of the Boeing global organisation, employing approximately 1400 people at 13 sites around the country, primarily in support of high technology aerospace and communications systems for the Department of Defence.

We are currently seeking suitable candidates for a “Fixed Network Operator" based at our Harmon site.

To be successful in this role, you will have met the following criteria:
The Fixed Network Operator (FNO) reports to the Network Operations Supervisor. The FNO is required to operate HF Communications equipment using Communications, Information and Security Systems within the Modernised High Frequency Communications System (MHFCS) in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS), Work Instructions and ADF Doctrine. This will involve permanent shift work in a Network Management Facility in Canberra.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential criteria

  • Capable of possessing a high level Defence Security clearance
  • Willingness to work continuous shift work in accordance with military shift cycle
  • An understanding of and the abilty to comply with Federal/Territory OH&S requirements
  • Proficient in typing to the speed of 30 words per minute
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Desirable criteria

  • Experience as a Defence communications operator, or experience in a field similar to Defence communications operations
  • Knowledge of High Frequency communication systems
  • Ability to use Microsoft operating systems
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications such as Word.
