Our client - a major Australian Tertiary institution - is seeking two experienced and motivated Liaison Librarians to join their team. These positions are at HEW 6 level and are long term contracts, one position is part time, four days a week to the end of June, 2012, and the other is full time to the end of September, 2012. Located in North Ryde, and close to public transport, you will be working in their new, state of the art Library.
As Liaison Librarian you will develop and deliver innovative and dynamic Library Service liaison programs to meet current and future needs of the academic and research staff, and postgraduate students within the Social Sciences and Humanities faculties.
In conjunction with the Liaison Services Manager you will:
- Identify information needs of your clients
- Develop and implement a dynamic outreach program incorporating information literacy, information management systems and processes, to meet current and future needs of your clients
- Assist in strategic planning by ongoing review of emerging trends in the provision of proactive information services in a tertiary environment and
- Build effective relationships and networks internally and externally to facilitate the effective delivery of the academic outreach programs
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Professional qualifications in Information Management
- Demonstrated experience in the development and provision of reference and research support services in a tertiary institution
- The ability to identify collection development needs in consultation with your clients
- An understanding of and experience in the application of information literacy principles
- A commitment to dynamic and proactive client service
- Effective communication and presentation skills, and
- High level skills in research in social sciences and humanities
A strong team player, you will be confident with technology, flexible, have high level problem solving and negotiation skills and thrive in an environment of progressive change.
