The Role:

Mid Market Underwriters have two key elements to their role, Underwriting mid market and Global Corporate Motor risks and to be a Market Facing Underwriter

Key responsibilities:

  • The position will have impact on the entire QLD motor vehicle portfolio, but will essentially be responsible for a specific segment of business.
  • Establishes and maintains a program of intermediary, customer and team visits.
  • Keep the Motor Underwriting Manager informed of market changes by maintaining a personal awareness of market trends and developments.
  • Responsibility for Regional authority to underwrite and accept risks within authorised limits.
  • Ensure the profitability of the motor portfolio for which they are responsible.
  • Identify key target clients that fit within Zurich motor strategy
  • Operating to agreed service standards for the issuing of new business quotes, renewals and endorsements.

Who we are looking for:

  • Minimum 2-4 years experience in underwriting.
  • Has sound working knowledge of General Insurance Underwriting & Reinsurance
  • Detailed knowledge of the relevant Legislation and Regulations governing the General Insurance industry
  • Demonstrated level of expertise in property underwriting.
  • Ability to apply a strategic understanding of financial and market dynamics within Insurance industry to enhance our competitive position.
  • Computer literate - Word & Excel to intermediate level of proficiency
  • Demonstrated high level competency in negotiation.
  • Operates effectively in change situations
  • Gets things done, using appropriate techniques in a timely & effective manner, to budgetary and other financial standards.
  • Works & communicates constructively with others, placing collective success above individual gain.
  • Delivers a high level of service internally & externally.
  • Develops & maintains trust-based relationships.
  • Realizes full potential of self & others and pursues development opportunities.
  • Actively contributes to the achievement of the organization's strategy.
  • Generates innovative solutions through creative, original thinking.
