Our client, a global financial institution located in the heart of the Sydney CBD, have a great opportunity for a Senior Risk (Operational) Manager to join their small and friendly team of professionals.


Reporting to the Executive Manager of Risk and Compliance your key responsibilities will be to formulate and implement risk management policies across the organisation. This critical role will concentrate primarily on developing strategies to minimise the adverse effects of accidental and probable losses at the most reasonable cost as well as assisting to enhance operational efficiency and to meet strategic goals.

In this role you will be working together as part of the Senior Management team to develop policies that meet the organisations risk profile.

Key areas of focus will include:

Business Contingency Planning (BCP)
Ensuring that an effective BC framework is maintained to identify, assess and manage potential business continuity risks

Operational Risk Management Framework (RMF)
Ensuring the maintenance and ongoing development of the RMF and related policies

Information Security Management
Ensuring the effective implementation of the organisations Information Security Policy

Administration and coordination
To act as Secretary of the Operational Risk Committee and to attend relevant industry forums and seminars

In order to be considered for this opportunity you will need the following:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a risk position (operational) at a similar level and preferably within the financial services sector
  • Tertiary qualified in a related field
  • Membership affiliations
  • Ability to keep abreast of industry developments and risk trends
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong exposure to operational risk management framework
  • Strong understanding of BCP
  • Strong understanding of banking operations and control issues
  • High level communication skills across the board - written and verbal
  • Ability to be part of the team and to roll your sleeves up and be involved
  • Ability to manage people and time
  • Ability to present at Board level

In this role you will be responsible for the management of the Risk and Compliance Officer as well as the Information Security Officer.
