Geotechnical Engineer required to join a strong and results focused team, working on an underground copper mine operation in Central New South Wales.
Role:
An experienced Geotechnical Engineer is required to join a highly experienced team working on a growing copper operation. You will take responsibility for timely and relevant geotechnical support for all facets of mining from scoping study through to production.
Reporting directly to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will provide continuous planning process, focusing on maximising target ore extraction to optimize ore reserve value.
Provide technical assistance and support to the underground mining operations.
- Monitor all geotechnical aspects of the operation
- Develop geotechnical support designs and project plans in line with group deadlines
- Provide planning and scheduling support to the respective operations to ensure the safe, efficient and effective extraction of the resources
- Plan and monitor undercut blasting performance; excavation stability and cave back propagation
- Provide remedial requirement recommendations and design ground support requirements
- Review departmental expenditure on a monthly basis, identifying specific areas for cost improvement and develop and implement action plans to achieve these gains
- Undertake geotechnical mapping and modelling, making assessments for potential extensions
- Provide the leadership necessary to maintain and promote a safe and healthy work environment in support of the company’s health, safety and environmental policies
Requirement:
- Suitably degree qualified
- Geotechnical experience in underground hard rock mining
- Sound knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to mining
- Sound people management, communication and strong decision-making skills
- Computer literacy and skill with mine and ore body modelling and planning software
- Sound and systematic planning and coordination skills
