Our operations teams work hard to maintain over 91 substations and 12,000 kms of power lines and cables that keep the electricity flowing to their local communities. Without them, we know our network would grind to a halt. That’s why we ensure they get the best training and equipment to get the job done to the highest quality and safety standards.

As one of our Electrical Tradespersons, you’ll be supported by a close-knit team as you undertake work associated with the installation, commissioning and maintenance of substation plant and equipment. You will also be required to work in accordance with TransGrid’s High Voltage Safety Rules, Workplace Health and Safety regulations, Environmental policies and relevant regional safety instructions.

To be considered for the position, you will have:

  • Completed a Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent qualification.
  • A current C class drivers licence and be prepared to attain an MR class if required.
  • A willingness to reside within a reasonable distance of the appointed location.
  • A willingness to be on ‘Standby’ duties as required.
  • A willingness to spend periods away from the appointed location at distant locations.
  • Motivation and be able to work as part of a team or individually

Notes:
  • Applications will be considered from persons who are currently in their 4th year apprenticeship. Upon completion of the Apprenticeship the appointee will be remunerated at the Tradesperson rate
  • Appointment and progression is based on TransGrid Skill Development program for Tradespersons/Lineworker and demonstrated competency
  • Must be or become an ‘Authorised Person’ in accordance with TransGrid’s Safety Rules
  • Completion of additional training necessary to perform all the duties of the position (NB Environmental Authorisation, and HV Switching Authorisation if required)
  • Must be prepared to reside within a reasonable distance of the appointed location
  • Must be prepared to be on ‘Standby’ if required
  • Must be prepared to spend periods away from the appointed location if required
