Northern Cement is the leading supplier of cement and quicklime to the Territory’s mining, agriculture and construction industries. In the Territory we have two plants for the grinding of cement clinker and the manufacture of quicklime. The Darwin plant has a capacity to produce 250,000t cement per annum and includes raw materials handling, cement grinding, storage silo’s, bagging plant and dispatch facilities.
Based at the Cement Grinding facility and located at East Arm, next to the port, approximately 20 minutes from the centre of Darwin, an opportunity now exists for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated Maintenance Fitter.
A new exciting opportunity now exists at the Darwin Plant for an enthusiastic and hard working Maintenance Fitter.
Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, some of your main responsibilities will include:
- Accountable for carrying out mechanical repairs with a particular emphasis on planned and predictive/preventative maintenance
- Focusing on continuous improvement ideas
- Providing leadership and commitment to safety, quality and the environment
- Identification of plant critical spares
To be successful in the role, you will need to be:
- A confident, self motivated, energetic individual
- Customer orientated with a passion for continuous improvement
- A team player with a high degree of trade flexibility and a Mechanical Fitting trade qualification
- Basic knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics and welding
- A leader with excellent communication skills and an ability to supervise contractor labour
Your normal hours will be a 38 hour week with an expectation of working reasonable overtime hours.
