
PURPOSE:
To satisfy our customers on-going requirements by -
- Performing a variety of tasks including the effective and efficient acceptance, securing and delivery of their freight;
- Working and contributing in a quality team;
- Operating multi combinational vehicle, basic freight accounting and basic computer operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide a quality customer service within areas of acceptance, delivery, loading/unloading and securing of freight, using appropriate machinery and equipment to maximise capacity of linehaul vehicles, wagons and containers taking into consideration -
- Dangerous Goods Procedures (relevant modules);
- Workplace Health and Safety Requirements, Environmental Policies and Department of Transport (DOT) Regulations;
- Pallet control procedures;
- QLink networks and systems, including Postrac and Co-Driver;
- Basic freight accounting procedures and basic computer operation.
Operate a multi combinational vehicle in accordance with -
- DOT Regulations;
- Manufacturer's specifications;
- Fatigue management principles and provide coaching/mentoring and guidance in this area.
Ensure safe, cost effective and efficient use of machinery and equipment occurs by -
- Providing minor servicing and maintenance to relevant machinery and equipment;
- Performing daily maintenance checks and reporting necessary repairs (as per manufacturer's instructions).
Perform a variety of tasks as directed by the relevant supervisor or as agreed by the work team for the effective and efficient running of the Freight Terminal, including, but not limited to -
- Answering the telephone;
- Housekeeping (keeping work area and vehicles clean and tidy);
- Working in a co-operative way with other teams throughout QLink;
- Control Systems e.g. run sheets and time sheets.
Ensure security of freight at all times and report any discrepancies to the relevant Supervisor and handle freight in such a way that minimises service failures in terms of -
- Damage;
- Misdirections;
- Split consignments;
- Theft.
- Respond to customer requests for information including but not limited to -
- The location of freight;
- Delivery timeframes;
- Specific orders;
- Specific loading requirements.
Contribute as part of a productive quality and customer focused team and -
- Adhere to QLink's goals/Business Plans;
- Work co-operatively with others in the team;
- Contribute to team decisions;
- Support team decisions when made;
- Participate at team meetings;
- Work under limited guidance.
Meet service levels and schedules to satisfy customers expectations i.e. damage free and on time performance.
ADDITIONAL FACTORS:
The appointee will be required to -
- Comply with Aurizon's Code of Conduct;

The appointee may be required to -
- Work outdoors in the direct sunlight;
- Travel intrastate and interstate as the business requires;
- Undergo additional training as the business requires;
- Work shift work, overtime and weekends;
- Undertake customer visits.
CRITERIA:
- Substantial quality focused customer service skills.
- Substantial skill in multi combinational vehicle operation in accordance with DOT Regulations and fatigue management principles.
- Substantial skill in loading, unloading and securing of freight.
- Sound interpersonal, consultation, conflict resolution, oral and written communication and teamwork skills.
- Sound skill in the acceptance and delivery of freight.
- Sound skill in minor servicing and maintenance techniques for multi combinational vehicles, forklift and other relevant manual handling equipment.
- Knowledge of and willingness to commit to and work within Aurizon's Values.
