This is a Fixed Term Full Time appointment until 30/06/2013.

COAG: Under the National Partnership Agreement on Closing the Gap in Indigenous Health Outcomes, the State government has committed to the establishment of a Statewide Specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Service (SSAMHS). The aim of the service is to improve Aboriginal people’s mental health by a whole of family approach to supporting access to mainstream services and increasing services’ capacity to better meet Aboriginal people’s needs.

Eligibility to Apply: Pursuant of Section 50(d) of the Equal Employment Opportunities Act 1984, the occupant of this position must be of Aboriginal descent.

Preference for appointment will be given to Australian Permanent Residents.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "identical" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of six (6) months from the start date of the first applicant appointed.

Position Profile: Kimberley Mental Health and Drug Service are seeking suitable applicants for the role of Senior Aboriginal Mental Health Worker. In this position you will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver culturally respectful Mental Health Services throughout the Kimberley region.

You will also provide and facilitate the assessment, treatment, advocacy and support for Aboriginal people, as well as participating in community development, education and training whilst maintaining your caseload.
