The NSW/ACT Network of FaHCSIA comprises a State Office in Sydney, 6 Indigenous Co-ordination Centres and a Regional Operations Centre. The Network represents the Department across NSW and the ACT; it manages funding agreements for mainstream and indigenous specific programs and maintains effective working relationships and partnerships with all stakeholders and clients, particularly the NSW Government. It has a lead role in the whole-of-government coordination effort in Indigenous affairs across Australian Government agencies at the State, regional and community level, and in supporting the implementation of COAG National Partnership Agreements in NSW, particularly those that go to Closing the Gap in indigenous disadvantage.
Indigenous Coordination Centres (ICC)
ICCs are responsible for coordinating the efforts of agencies in their dealings with clients. This includes management and coordination of Indigenous-specific programs in the regions, working with local Indigenous communities to negotiate regional and local agreements, working with the three tiers of government, the non government sector, business and specific organisations to enhance and develop effective partnerships and shared responsibilities.
Description of the role
This position provides corporate support in the Coffs Harbour Indigenous Coordination Centre. It requires sound general knowledge of the role, functions, policies and procedures that impact on tasks performed in the office. Work is performed under general guidance with clear guidelines and established work practices. The role is critical to the efficient and effective working relationships within the office and as such the ability to work effectively as a team member is of high importance.
Job Description
- Undertake a range of general administrative support to enable the smooth running of the office including but not limited to reception, mail, stationery, records management, travel and fleet management, accounts processing and asset management.
- Respond to general enquiries from members of the public, and provide information and appropriate referral.
- Oversee records and file management; preparation and maintenance of accurate records; including auditing and archiving files.
- Process incoming accounts and invoices; adhering to financial management legislation, policies and procedures.
- Utilise well developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders and prepare general correspondence.
- Assist with the application and management of standard funding agreements.
- Support the ICC management with the preparation of documentation, secretariat support for meetings and completion of follow up reports.
- Communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous people in carrying out the duties of the position.
- Liaise with the NSW Business Support team in Sydney in order to meet deadlines and provide information as required.
- Other duties as required by ICC management in line with APS 4 work level standards.

This position plays an important role in supporting the Coffs Harbour ICC and may involve some travel.

- Criterion 4 - Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, and the capacity to learn a variety of FaHCSIA IT applications.
