This represents a junior position with the Research and Development team of the company; reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be a member of the team responsible for the evolution, development and support of the current Product Suite within a Microsoft x86/x64 C++/C# Development Environment.

The TPS product range has a diverse international customer base and is used on a large number of high profile road and rail infrastructure projects.

Essential-Key Activities/Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Engineering Manager
  • C++/C# Development within a Microsoft Environment, under an SDLC using Agile
  • Development of the current Product Suite, within a 12 month, major revision, release cycle
  • Sustaining work on existing product for quarterly Service Pack releases
  • Maintenance and Support of Regression Test, Build and Packaging Systems
  • Frequent liaison with Operations Staff to troubleshoot product/customer issues
  • Work with Operations Staff to define and develop new product
  • Work with the Development and Test team to identify areas for, and methods of improvement, for process and product.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education:
  • Essential
    • 2-3 years of commercial IT Development Experience
    • Native C++ Experience using Visual Studio
    • Source Control (Branching, Merging etc)
  • Desirable
  • C# Experience
  • C++ Templates / STL
  • MFC and/or WTL
  • Multi-Threading experience
  • COM under ATL
  • Relevant IT Degree or Qualification
  • Windows Service Development
  • SQL under OLEDB
  • ASP.NET / HTML / Jscript
  • XML and XSLT experience
  • Road / Rail Design / Civil Engineering / GIS
  • 3D Graphics using DirectX
  • Localisation experience.
  • Advantageous

The Company is involved within the Civil Engineering industry, so experience in that sector would be an advantage, though not essential; similarly, the product is math-orientated so the successful applicant should not be fazed by examining complex mathematic algorithms within code

Other duties as required and requested by management.
