An opportunity exists for an Electrical & Automation Engineering Manager to join the GMS Ermington team.
The main responsibilities of the role include the management of the life cycle of all Electrical & Automation infrastructure on site; including all HV/LV switchgear, distribution boards & all Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s). The successful candidate will also execute the electrical & automation strategy on site & support the capital project team in the delivery of business critical projects. The role will also take ownership of the electrical & automation maintenance plan.
In more detail; the role will involve;
- Responsible for the timely maintenance of all Electrical & Automation systems across the site to facilitate safe operation
- Develop & owns the Electrical & Automation strategy
- Responsible for the development & implementation of appropriate standards across the site
- Training plan for 3 direct reports
- Responsible for all electrical services on site
- Ensuring that electrical breakdown repairs are affected promptly and ultimately to manufacturers’ specifications
- Negotiate annual contracts for servicing of specialised plant, equipment and processes.
- Manage contractors including ensuring appropriate training and induction requirements are met.
- Assist with the preparation of each forthcoming annual expense and capital budget.
- Responsible for the generation of SOPs & relevant documentation for upgrading and preventative maintenance
- Ensure all functions are performed with regard and compliance to GMP, EHS and Regulatory requirements
- Identify & manage appropriate service providers to ensure the site has the required level of support for business critical automation issues
- Develops & maintain a list of all PLC’s on site & actively manages a replacement programme to ensure obsolete or no longer supported models are replaced at the appropriate time.
- As Change Owner of Planned Changes, be responsible for managing the changes end to end Ideally you will have experience in Siemens PLC programming and be able to trouble shoot with the programming when necessary.
